Adsense, Connect Commerce AKA Google Affiliate Network Are Now One

Well it’s done. Adsense and Connect Commerce (CC) aka Google Affiliate Network (GAN) are one entity now. September 21, 2009 was the deadline for adding all connect commerce accounts to a Google account. If you use CC and not Adsense you need to open a Google Account and connect the two.

Users should have received a notice from Google to update tax information. Anyone making money online needs to pay tax’s. This entails taking steps to tell the IRS. Sole Proprietors to Incorporated Business’s all need to complete the appropriate tax forms.

Google will not offer any legal or tax advice, and neither can this site. We can say though, that if your a one man show a sole proprietorship can be the best way to go. If you plan on making over $599.99 (we hope you do) you will need to report it to the IRS. The IRS Website is the best way to decide on exactly what form to fill out.

We haven’t really seen to much news about Google and Connect Commerce since The almighty G purchased CC. We have been watching the changes on the sites and making changes like connecting accounts.

I waited to about 3 weeks before the deadline to make my move! Why you may ask. Well I have never made much money online with Adsense. In fact I believe putting those ads on site have led to there demise.

This is a big subject in the affiliate world. Once you put adsense on a site it gets sand boxed or even deindexd. Personally from what I have seen this is true. I don’t use adsense really and steer clear of everything adsense. Staying under Google’s radar is another subject though.

Adsense works for those who are analytic enough to put campaign together and build landing pages. And of course you need money to start a campaign. For myself I do not gamble with cash. I build highly targeted N1WAY type websites. These sites rely on natural and organic traffic.

Now that we are connected at the hip with Google and our highest earner what do we do ?

This affiliates biggest earners are or where on connect commerce network. This merger is forcing me to work with a partner I have been avoiding for years. What can happen now. These questions have been keeping me up nights.

I use the word “Where” above because no longer than 24 hours after I changed my sign in information to my Google Account information my very best converting links went dead. I mean dead. Not one conversing in three weeks. This could simply be a drop in sales or the adsense hex has been placed on my sites. Honestly I don’t know whats happening yet, but it’s not good. Lets just say earning are down well over a %1000.

On top of these other questions dealing with ePN changing to Pay Per Click questions remains. I can’t help but wonder if GAN/CC Advertisers will be made to start paying affiliates by the click. This would make sense if we look at recent trends.

From trends I see I think anyone looking to make money online really needs to look at whats happening. Being prepared for change is one of the most important aspects of Internet Marketing. Change happens on a constant basis. Fortunes have been made and lost because of the evolving Internet.

As of now it appears connecting Adsense and Google Affiliate Accounts is only for payment purposes. Lets hope it stays that way.
