We don’t know if this is a temporary development or not. The fact remain Pepper Jam has sent out email stating they are dropping ePN or at least pausing the campaign on PJ.
It would appear to this affiliate that PJ even couldn’t come up with a plan for converting or the new owners (GSI) of Pepper Jam just don’t want to deal with eBay anymore. The only ones who know all work at PJ.

Heres the email. “I wanted to let you know the eBay program on Pepperjam Network will be paused as of October 1, 2009. eBay has decided to move forward with Quality Click Pricing, a new payout structure designed to further reward the affiliates who drive incremental transactions on eBay and who send valued buyers to their sites. At this time, Pepperjam Network can not support the CPC model. Since you are a valued eBay affiliate through Pepperjam Network, eBay would like the opportunity to work with you directly through their in house affiliate program, EPN”

Why not deal with eBay? Sellers are running from eBay and creating there own websites and affiliate networks. Why not the affiliates.

The general feeling about eBay seems to be they just don’t care about anyone. Not the sellers and now the affiliates. They have this arrogant aura around them. Its like they just disrespect any body who has made the site what it is. eBay is a user generated website. If they have no users then they have no site. With the deals eBay makes with major retailers and e commerce sites they will always have sellers and advertisers. So they will not be going anywhere soon.

Don’t get me wrong. I will continue to promote eBay, but on a level much lower. There are just to many other programs that have the same products ebay does. Take Pepper Jam since that’s what inspired this article. PJ has costume King as a program. Lots of people built sites around eBay for costumes. Why not just convert links for Halloween Costumes to Pepper Jam Store Builder Links. It super easy.

I think all ePN Affiliates wonder why a big company would make such a big change 3 months before Christmas. Mark over at Niche Store Builder wrote a interesting article. He brings up the issue of eBay actually losing business because of the changes. Here’s the LINK to Marks blog. He’s so smart.
