Researching Your First Blog Or Website to Monetize

Before you start to go out and start a blog or website you need to ask yourself some questions and do some basic research.

1st What are your interests and what are you a authority about. It doesn’t matter if it’s Tea Pots or gardening. Write down as many interests as you can. When you start you first site you want it to engage you then your readers will become engaged.

What your going to do is take your lists of interests is label it KEYWORDS. Your interests are know keywords in your mind. Go to Google Keyword Tools at https://adwords.google.com. Enter your keywords one at a time. Your keywords can be one word or up to 3 which is called a Long Tail Keyword. What you want to look for is keywords that have lots of people searching for while the competition is low. Take your time and learn how this tool works. Google has many tools to help web master which you are know. Once you have researched all your keywords you want to compile a list. The metrics of all this can make your mind explode so for the purpose of this tutorial we want to pick a group of keywords with high search count with as little competition as possible.

Take your list and go to Google search and start on the top with your list. Type your keywords into the search to see how many pages there are. Then put your keyword in quotes like “Tea Pots”. This will bring back the exact amount of sites using that key word. If there are more pages than users searching for those keywords note it and move on to the next group.

Once you have gathered a decent list of keywords and you have put them in order of least competition compared to the amount of pages its time to start a site. You want to use your list for the life of your site so don’t lose it.

Follow these procedures for 4 or 5 of your most knowledgeable subjects. You may not want to start with your best group to build your free blog. We want to save the best to build a web hosted site. Your keywords are know known as Niche’s too.
