After a huge spam attack today I needed to calm down. So I started gathering up the tools I need to take this show on the road for the up coming ski season. Doesn’t seem like it’s year 3 doing this.
The first season of marketing on the road was filled with trying to connect and slow internet connections. When I was moving around I was tethering a Motorola Razor and connecting through the AT&T text network. This is not recommended as it could get you in trouble with your carrier.
During the 09-10 ski season I was able to make connecting much easier. As anyone who knows me I love technology and that’s my main focus. This has given me the ability to have some of the newest and best Smartphones. Last year when the Droid Phone Launched I was one of the first to have one. The Android OS Phone made life incredibly easy for checking email and websites.
The camp 2 Vail office in 09-10 was a mess compared to what we have now. Two laptops, a 500GB Hard Drive, 22 inch monitor and enough wires to hang a horse.
In 2010 the new set up is impressive for me anyway. It will consist of a Dell Inspiron, 500GB Hard Drive and a Motorola Droid A855. This reduced what needs to be carried every place I go. The reasoning for the New Dell is battery life. The previous two year my core CPU was a 6 year old HP. I love it and still have it, but the battery is dead and I need to be online 24/7.
As you can tell the package has been reduced considerably. The Dell has Stayed powered up with the Droid attached and connected for 8 hours. That’s with the upgraded battery in the Dell.
Their are two primary ways to connect or tether your laptop. The first is to sign up for the tethering plan at $20.00 a month. The second is to use PDAnet Android App. I’m not telling which one I use but I will say I’m a cheapo.
They connection speed through the Android Phone is super impressive and in speedtest.org it ran faster than the broadband service I used this summer.
There you have it. It has already snowed in the Rockie Mountains so this place is getting busy. Between travel and Christmas coming busy isn’t a strong enough word.
