To my surprise I had two twitter accounts suspended this week. I know what your saying. You did something wrong or you where spamming twitter users. I would say that too if I was reading this.

Let me tell you what I think happened. Neither one of these sites where spamming first of all.

One account is linked to a political website that posts to twitter when I publish a post. Its mostly videos and presidential news. Also the only direct messages I send out are thanks for following us. Please visit our site. Not spam at all IMO.

The second account was more about re tweeting others and basically sending tweets about things that caught my eye on the web. People were following me. Around 600. I did send DM’s to new followers with links, but they were thank you too.

Really no reason for any of my actions as far as spam I can see so what was it that got these twitter accounts suspended.

It was I stopped following people on the two accounts in bulk. I had followed lots of users I found using keywords so they weren’t engaged with me. So without thinking I went ahead and used a bulk un-follow tool.

The bulk unfollow is the only common denominator I can see. The way I tweet is not spam and never email or DM after the Thank You DM. This is what happens when you listen to bloggers who think they know what their talking about. It is commonly said to purge non followers by so called guru’s.

I could have saved two nice twitter account by simply using someway to only follow targeted users by keyword. Then I wouldn’t have to have unfollowed all the users not following me. More people are going to follow back if they are targeted by interest and keywords.

Man I fell so stupid now. I know exactly what I need! The answer was in front of my face the entire time. And as I think about it more I need to to put together a group of twitter tools to insure I can control whom I follow and have the best chance of getting the most followers that are going to follow back  and may convert.

I want the best chance at succeeding using twitter. So instead of going out and just jumping into a new tools I looked for ones I already had but didn’t really use.

The first thing I dug up and reread. Sometime back I bought a really good ebook and course from a web developer I have purchased BANS Templates and other stuff from in the past. His name Ian Fernando. If you haven’t heard of him he has been around for some time. I first meet Ian on the BANS Forum 2 years back. He has been all over the web since then. He was on this affiliate challenge web TV show too. I can’t remember the exact name , but anyway Ive never been disappointed. The book is Twitter Traffic Exposed. Ian and his buddy spent three months researching and writing this book. Well its more like a system that when you follow it you can’t go wrong. They dropped the price temporarily since I bought it, but it was still worth it. Just the links to the tools and how use them is worth it.

The second tool I already have is Tweet Later. Ive been using tweet Later for quit some time now, but I have been using the free version. I have upgraded using the free trial. I can say only using TweetCOCKPIT for a short time I am happy. TweetCOCKPIT adds so much more to the TweetLater platform. Its so much I can’t even begin to list all the functions.

Something that I didn’t have which I’m going to start using is TwitterBot. I’ve wanted to learn how this type of application works. So I went for it. I just started learning how to use TwitterBot, but so far it has been good. It too has ways to automate twitter whilst not looking like a bot. The application has timed delays to make responses and messages look natural. They look like a person sent the auto responder message. Works great.

Auto Follow By Keyword Search:
That’s Right! Twitter Bot can search in the profiles and old send messages for keywords you want and then follow these people if the keywords have been found. So for example if you want to follow people that leave in “Boston” then just search for Boston in the twitter profiles and twitter bot will add them automatically in your account. Or if you want to add people that deal with marketing, just search for “Marketing” in their profile and their messages

Auto add followers:
The twitter bot will add 100 new people (as users that you follow) on a daily basis. 100 is the top you can add without lifting any red flags at twitter. As a result of following these new people then in return many of those will follow you back. Most users of Tweetlater have also set this function by default to follow those who follow them. For every 100 new people you follow you almost get 40-60 new followers. (These numbers may vary). But since The Twitter Bot Friend Adder can handle multiple accounts, if you have let’s say 10 twitter accounts you will be getting about 400-600 NEW followers PER DAY or more, AUTOMATICALLY without lifting a finger, even when you go to bed

Auto Update your status every X minutes from a Text file with pre-made messages:
Yes!!! That’s the best part of the Twitter Bot. You can create a text file with your notepad, with as many messages you want (of 140 characters/message) and let the twitter bot to start your marketing to thousands of people(for all your twitter accounts), while you can do your favorite sport, or watch TV, or work on a project. It can do that in random times so it doesn’t lift any red flags in twitter for spam.

That’s just some of what TwitterBot does.

As I have gone threw having the two accounts suspended I have learned lots about twitter and site building as a whole. Its back to basics. We need to add value for users. Whether its twitter or this blog. So I plan on adding some free tools here. I found some scripts that work with twitter that I can put on this site or another domain. After I have set up my new and updated tools the new resources will become available.

In closing I would say to anyone who wants to use twitter in any capacity. Use tools that will keep your accounts clean of followers that have no relevance. Do this from the beginning because when you land up following those irrelevant people it will be risky to unfollow them in bulk. The two apps above have ways to stay focused on your targeted group or and grow your market.

I still have not heard back from twitter. I’ll keep you updated, but I don’t think I will get very far.

The Twitter Account that was suspended as been reinstated. And after a few Emails it was reinserted into The Matrix / Search.
A serious problem has arisen since I made this post. Twitter has removed the account for this blog from the search. I did remove lots of followers so I assume that’s the issue. Twitter was emailed a couple time and they are not responding.
